After this has been decided with a poll last year and which of course was won by the F1 Challenge '99-'02 game, the IRL organization has ultimately decided to change game for next season. This has multiple reasons but the most important reasons are less lag and probably due to this, better and more enjoyable racing.
Green-White-Checkered finishes?
The rFactor game gives the series many options to tweak even more rules here and there, the series is considering a green-white-checkered finish rule, which means we will never finish a race behind the safety car but extra laps will be added to the scheduled race distance instead. Despite we saw a great Indy 500 last Sunday, a green-white-checkered would have avoided a finish under yellow.
Different aero packages
In rFactor it's possible to program a mod with cars which do consist over so called "Upgrades". In IndyCar mods, one of those upgrades are the different aero packages for road/street courses, short ovals, speedways and superspeedways.
Night races
rFactor also gives us the option to drive races under the lights, venues such as Texas Motor Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Auto Club Speedway are nominated to get a night race.
2012-2013 IZOD IndyCar Series mod on it's way and to be released very soon!
Yes, one of the most deciding things to really make the step to rFactor has been the fact that a new superb IZOD IndyCar Series mod is on it's way and will feature both the 2012 and 2013 IndyCar seasons. We will of course use the 2013 season and custom skins are allowed. Remember to send those by PM to schumacher180, you can do this until December 31, 2013. On January 1, 2014, the IRL will release a so called league add-on, which will include all custom car skins, helmets and/or even rim colors.
